First Day of School – Minimum Day

DROP OFF/PICK UP PROCEDURES FOR FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

DROP OFF: Due to guidance from the California Department of Public Health, only students and staff are allowed on school sites. Parents/guardians will be restricted from entering the playground to drop off their children. We understand the inconvenience and the concerns you may have. However, it is imperative to ensure the health and safety of the students and staff. Teachers will have their classrooms open by 7:45 a.m. the first day of school. OGES staff will be on the playground to ensure all students arrive at the appropriate classroom.

Class placements will be available on your parent portal account after 3:00 PM Monday afternoon. Attached are directions to access your account. Families are welcome to stop by the campus Monday after 3:00 PM to locate their child’s classroom from the exterior of the building if they wish. A school map is attached to help locate the classrooms.

PICK UP: Oso Grande has one supervised pick up area for grades 1-5 (the main parking lot). Students who are being picked up in the carline will wait on the playground in the area adjacent to large gates. Please review your family’s pick up procedures prior to the first day of school.

Helpful dismissal tips:

• PLEASE, make plans on where to meet your child at dismissal prior to the first day of school so that they will not be confused or worried.
• Please park at the water park or Covenant Hills park (not in the staff parking lot).
• The small gate located on O’Neill is not a supervised student pick up location. That gate will be locked at approximately 8:00 AM. and will not be open at dismissal.
• A sign placed in the front right corner of your car’s windshield with your child’s name will help staff load the children into the vehicles and greatly reduce the wait time.
